The Best Captains Afloat

Captain Terry “Killer” Kellam

Captain Killer moved to Maui in 1978 as a USLG Captain at the age of 23.  For 38 years he has been fishing the Maui waters.  He has the expertise that only a Capitan fishing the local waters can provide our guests.  There really isn’t a fish found in these waters that Capitan “Killer” hasn’t caught.  With this said, he proudly believes in the “Tag n Release” for most Billfish and the sustainability of the Ocean he loves so much.

The statement he lives by is: “Every single day that I fish, I view as an opportunity not only to catch fish and have a great time on the water, but also have a chance to catch the “Fish of a Lifetime” with one of my guests.”

Whether you are a very experienced Fisherman or a First Timer, Killer can’t wait to meet you!

Captain Gene Perkins

Captain Gene Perkins is an avid outdoorsman that has spent the better part of his life sailing, hunting and fishing. He grew up in California and starting sailing when he was just 12 years old, a passion that has taken him all over the world. Selling yachts sent him to the Middle East and Australia, where he enjoyed recreational fishing for sailfish in Katar and marlin in the Great Barrier Reef. With family living here in Maui he has returned several times since 1988 to live and work. Since joining Extreme Fishing Maui he brought the KAI AKUA over from Oahu in 2005, and has been working the early morning/8 hour program with great success. Bringing in over 100 fish in 4 days this year, Captain Gene has proven live bait opelu fishing to be what works. He also competes in tournament fishing, adding a competitive side to it, with a personal best Marlin of 864lbs. An all around good guy, and jack of many trades, fishing with Captain Gene is sure to be an experience!

Captain Mason Jarvi

Captain Mason Jarvi has been fishing Hawaiian waters for the last 5 years. Originally from Massachussetts, his passion for fishing started at a very young age with his father off the coast of Cape Cod. After catching his fill of blue fin tuna and cod in the Atlantic Ocean, he decided to make his way to Maui to try his hand in warmer waters. Getting a job here with Extreme Fishing Maui on the NO PROBLEM, Mason started working under Captain Steve “Skillet” Lambert and was introduced to the benefits of 8 hour trips, starting early morning and working the buoys with live bait. This technique has a proven rate of success over any other fishing program and as crew, Mason was quick to achieve a personal best of 68 Mahi Mahi totaling 1100 pounds in one day. Now as Captain of the NO PROBLEM, Mason works hard at continuing on with the proven methods, successful reputation and legacy of his mentor Captain Steve Lambert, while applying his own techniques and knowledge of the sport fishing industry. One thing is for certain, you go out fishing with Captain Mason, you will be crushing it!
